We believe the Bible is the authoritative, infallible Word of God and that Jesus Christ is not just a part of our story, He is the story. We believe salvation is not found in a moment of emotion but in a life of transformation. True saving faith leads to repentance, obedience, and the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit in a believer’s life.

We believe the modern church has often settled for common Christianity; lukewarm, compromised, and convenient. But Jesus is calling us higher. We believe in the power of the Gospel to break chains, awaken purpose, and raise up uncommon men and women who boldly follow Jesus no matter the cost.

We are continuationists who believe the gifts of the Holy Spirit are for today, and we pursue them in order to live with boldness, holiness, and power in a culture desperate for truth.

This is not just what we believe. This is who we are.

We’re Jon and Wanda Ellis, married for over 30 years, parents, pastors, and passionate lovers of Jesus. Together we’ve walked through seasons of pain, breakthrough, healing, and revival. We’ve seen what it looks like when people settle for religion, and we’ve also witnessed what God can do when people truly surrender.

Jon is the founder of The Uncommon Christian, author of I’ve Prayed the Prayer, host of The Uncommon Christian Podcast, and Lead Pastor of The Refuge Ministries of West Georgia. Wanda walks powerfully in wisdom and discernment and is the spiritual mother and encourager of countless leaders and women of faith.

We live to disciple the next generation, build up the Body of Christ, and see the fire of the Holy Spirit return to everyday believers. We’re just ordinary people with an uncommon conviction: Jesus is worth it all.

The Uncommon Christian was born out of a holy discontent. After decades in ministry; preaching, discipling, serving, and weeping over a church culture that had exchanged surrender for slogans, we knew it was time to speak up. To challenge the status quo. To call the Church back to her first love.

Jon’s book I’ve Prayed the Prayer was written to expose the lie of salvation without transformation and to invite believers into real, life-altering discipleship. What began as a manuscript became a movement. And now, The Uncommon Christian is a growing platform, through sermons, teaching, podcasting, and resources, mobilizing believers to live boldly, follow Jesus fully, and never settle for cultural Christianity.

Our history is still being written, and it’s all about Him.

Because Jesus didn’t die to make us comfortable.

He died to make us new, and to send us.
